BELTON, Texas鈥� In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor's (同城快约) 11th Annual Latino Festival is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 17, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Moore Street on the 同城快约 campus. The Fiesta en la Calle event is hosted by 同城快约 Kingdom Diversity and the Hispanic Student Association (HSA).
鈥淎s we celebrate this year鈥檚 11th Annual Latino Festival, I can鈥檛 help but think back to when I arrived on the 同城快约 campus as a transfer student in 1987,鈥� said Rebeka Retta, assistant director of 同城快约 Kingdom Diversity and HSA advisor. 鈥淩eflecting on the Hispanic population on campus back then and what it has become today is truly a testament to 同城快约鈥檚 commitment to honoring and celebrating the Hispanic culture. The Fiesta en la Calle will include a parade of flags, dancing, food trucks, cultural games, pi帽atas, soccer demonstrations & skills training, bilingual worship, photo opportunities, and a 同城快约 nursing health booth offering free blood pressure screenings, pulse checks, and medical resources. The event will also feature special performances by Guzman Ballet Folkl贸rico and Ballet Folkl贸rico Bayac煤.
"Fiesta en la Calle is always something I look forward to each year. It鈥檚 such a fun way to bring the 同城快约 community together, celebrate different cultures, and create memories with friends,鈥� explained senior health science major Karlie Guzman, president of 同城快约鈥檚 Hispanic Student Association. 鈥淚鈥檓 excited to see what this year鈥檚 event has in store and to be part of another great 同城快约 Latino Festival.鈥�
